Pierson named March Student of the Month

Outstanding academic achievement has won senior Patrick Pierson the honor of being named Noon Optimist Student of the Month for March.
"Patrick is president of the Honor Council bearing the weight of this office with grace and fairness," said Ivy Brewer, associate dean of college guidance. "He is in the top of his class - taking some of the most rigorous courses we have to offer - and he excels as a three-sport varsity athlete and a member of our Concert Choir and The Random Notes, Darlington’s all-male a cappella group. He works very hard, giving his all to everything to which he has committed."
Pierson is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Spanish Honor Society and the Dean's List. He is a Presbyterian Fellow and a Wofford Scholar. He has applied to Duke University and Vanderbilt University and was Darlington's Morehead nominee to The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has already been admitted to the University of Georgia.
"Patrick is certainly deserving of any accolades that come his way," Brewer said. "One of the qualities he is most admired for is the way he receives this attention. He is one of the most gracious students you will meet, always giving credit to others for his success, be it his teammates, his classmates, or his family. In the face of adversity, Patrick makes no excuses, leading others by example."
The son of Beth and Curt Pierson of Rome, Patrick was honored at an Optimist Club luncheon on March 30.
