Physics Teams Excel in Contest

Darlington placed first and second during a physics contest held at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. Pat Waddell, Upper School physics instructor, recently took nine physics students to the competition, which consisted of two separate contests.
The first was an individual contest in which students competed with each other for a four-year scholarship. Adam Marcus, Adam Richardson, May Theerarattanoon, Ken Edwards, and Bastian Widenmayer scored high on the individual contests, and Marcus was considered for the scholarship.
The second was the cyphering team contest in which students answered questions with speed and accuracy in order to score points. The Darlington A team, consisting of Michael Gordon, Robert Hortman, Marcus and Richardson, took first place out of 16 teams in the small school division.
The Darlington B team, composed of Edwards, Daniel Hanks, Theerarattanoon, and Widenmayer, placed second. Fifty teams took part overall.
