Passion Contributes to Annual Fund

Thanks to the strength of leaders, passionate volunteers, and generous contributors, Darlington School is able to offer its students more. The combined efforts of Jackson B. Harris ’71, national chair, and Mary Norton, gift officer for Annual Giving, are encouraging leaders, volunteers, and contributors to pool their resources to support the Annual Fund, a yearly campaign designed to raise money to make up the difference between actual tuition revenue and what it costs the School to offer the abundance of educational and life experiences available to Darlington students.
This past year, the Annual Fund contributed 9.5 percent to Darlington’s total operating budget or $1,500 in non-tuition revenue for each of Darlington’s 900 students. These unrestricted funds help Darlington meet the educational, social, and emotional needs of all Lower, Middle, and Upper School students.
The overall goal for the 2000-2001 Annual Fund is $1,400,000. In order to achieve this goal, Darlington depends on the support, energy, commitment, and ability of alumni, faculty, friends, grandparents, parents, parents of alumni, and members of the Board of Visitors and the Board of Trustees.
Leadership for the 2000-2001 Annual Fund includes National Chair Jackson B. Harris ’71, 2001-2002 National Chair Elect Joyce Riddle Neely ’62, Development Committee Chair and Board of Trustees member Quill Healey, Board of Visitors member and Annual Division Chair Terry Honan ’64, and Division Chairs Douglas Remer, resident parents; Nancy and Barry Brass, day parents; William Kelly ’71, alumni; Clinton Hubbard ’81, Rome major gifts; Dennis Nichols ’71, Atlanta major gifts; Thomas Selman ’47, grandparents; Stephen Conrad, parents of alumni; David Pesterfield ’68, reunion gifts; Cooper Crawford ’83, Rome alumni phonathon; William Temple ’90, Atlanta alumni phonathon; Reatha Carroll, Lower School; Chad Warner, Middle School; and Kevin Purpura, Upper School.
