Parents Weekend includes community reading project

The buzz on campus is that Sue Monk Kidd, author of The Secret Life of Bees, will speak to Upper School parents, students, faculty members, and guests, on Friday, Oct. 17, as part of Fall Parents Weekend. She is the third author to visit the campus as the guest speaker for the community reading project Darlington president David Hicks introduced in 2001. The project offers the entire Darlington community a common academic ground, one that encourages discussion. Kidd, who grew up in Southwest Georgia, addresses the strength of women and their relationships, especially those of mothers and daughters.
