Parents of alums appear in Georgia Trend Who’s Who listing

Five parents of Darlington alumni were recently named to “Georgia Trend” magazine’s Who’s Who in Georgia Media listing.
“Some on our list are the best at what they do. They have the hardware and the respect of their peers to prove it. Some are known nationally, some are only important in their corner of the state. Some are self-made, and some were born into media families,” reads the article written by Jerry Grillo.
Because there are at least 180 newspapers in Georgia, 175 radio stations, 35 television stations and countless bloggers and Web sites, Grillo said “Georgia Trend’s” list is by no means all-inclusive. “The list is derived from gut instinct more than scientific research, and from the opinions of journalists, educators, politicians,” wrote Grillo.
Included in this subjective list of Georgia’s gatekeepers are: Mike Lester, editorial cartoonist for the Rome News-Tribune and parent of alumnus Grady Lester (’04); Burgett Mooney III (’68), publisher of the Rome News-Tribune and parent of alumnae Lynn Mooney (’98), Beth Mooney (’00) and Sarah Mooney (’03); Charles Morris (’56), owner/CEO of Morris Multimedia in Savannah and parent of alumna Mary Morris Enkema (’86); William Morris ('52), owner/CEO of Morris Communications in Augusta and father of Will Morris ('79); and Otis Raybon, vice president of operations for News Publishing Company in Rome and parent of alumnus Otis Raybon (’01) and Darlington senior William Raybon.
