Parents Association supports School with faculty grants

Each year the Darlington Parents Association provides funds for faculty grants. The funds are dispersed to faculty members on a competitive basis according to which faculty proposals are likely to make the greatest impact in the classroom.

The following teachers have been selected for grants: Larry Johnson (science), anatomy/ physiology studies, Phoenix College; Bill King (music), steel drum tuning workshop; Bob McGraw (math), calculus refresher course; Marit Mniszewski (foreign language), for language studies at the Institute for Social and International Studies, Barcelona, Spain; Merritt Newton ’79 (information technology and communications), graphic design certification; Karen Rieley (information technology and communications), student publication studies at the Journalism Education Association workshop, Manhattan Kan.; Craig Schmidt, Tim Foote, and Ken Wempe (history), Humanities Institute at Philips Exeter, Exeter, N.H.; and Casey Zimmer (admission), education course at Berry College, Rome, Ga. Through faculty grants the Parents Association is providing funds for a committee to research the International Baccalaureate program and a speaker for orientation.
