Parents Association sends Dodd to conference

Upper School AP Chemistry and Chemistry II instructor Julia Dodd attended the prestigious ChemEd 2003 Conference that took place on the campus of Auburn University in Auburn, Ala. in late July. The Parents Association provided with Dodd with the opportunity to attend the conference. “High school and college educators from around the world met to share their love of teaching and their enthusiasm for chemistry. The presentations and workshops were informative and inspiring,” Dodd said. “I came away with a trunk load of instructional materials and ideas for the upcoming school year. I can’t wait to share the demonstrations and laboratory activities with my students.”
The Parents Association provides funds for faculty grants. The funds are dispersed to faculty members on a competitive basis according to which faculty proposals are likely to make the greatest impact in the classroom.
ChemEd is the premier conference for chemistry educators. The biennial conference, which began in 1973 in Ontario, Canada, is designed to give high school and two-year college chemistry teachers the opportunity to share as many classroom and laboratory ideas as possible.
