Outstanding Achievement for Eighth-grader Davis Grizzard

Like many Darlington students, Davis Grizzard, eighth grader, spent his summer productively. Davis took part in Duke University’s Talent Identification Program (TIP), electing to take an Algebra I course at Davidson College in Davidson, N. C. and was the top student, receiving the highest grade in his class.
The TIP program identifies academically talented students by their outstanding standardized test scores and invites them to register to participate in TIP programs. Darlington Middle School has been involved in the TIP program for the last fourteen years and has been named a National School of Distinction by Duke University every year. "We have been fortunate that several students have taken advantage of the wonderful opportunities that this program offers," Middle School Principal Jim Van Es said.
"Although I have not personally taught Davis, I know that he is among our very best. His summer accomplishment certainly helps to emphasize what a gifted student he is," Van Es elaborated. Davis will take geometry at the Upper School in the upcoming year.
