Orientation: Heads of House Introduce House System to New and Returning Faculty

The last of the new faculty have settled onto Darlington’s campus. Faculty orientation week is in progress, and classes commence on Monday, Aug. 21. Everyone seemed to work together to welcome faculty to their new home. Headmaster David Rhodes was spotted hauling appliances during this process.
New faculty hail from states across the nation. In the last several weeks, French teacher Christopher Bettera has come in from New Britain, Conn, and John Payne, English instructor, has moved from Shelburne, Mass. Amy Ware, Middle School history instructor, was the last new faculty member to establish residence. Ware relocated from Rayvill, La., and she is living on the third floor of Persons Hall.
New and old faculty members alike are adjusting to the implementation of the house system. "House Life for Everyone" was presented by the heads of house during faculty orientation on Tuesday, Aug. 16. Each head of house spoke about emphasizing the intellectual, spiritual, moral, physical, cultural, and social aspects of students’ educations, turning the concept of the mission statement into a reality. The house system will be integral in bringing each area of the mission alive.
