Offers taken by Academy prospects

Darlington School Soccer Academy has drawn the interest of college teams from around the country as nine players who are part of the program are headed to the next level. According to academy director Chad Liddle, six Darlington student-athletes have signed letters of intent with five college teams, while three others are nearing decisions about where they will go.
David Hill, a midfielder who prepped at Mercer High (Wash.), Alex Milhous, a defender from Marietta, and Ben Stoddard, a midfielder from Winchester, Va., will compete on the Division I level next year.
Hill will be heading to Virginia Military Institute, Milhous earning an appointment to play at the Air Force Academy, and Stoddard signing a letter to attend Gardner-Webb.
Rome's German Ospina and Lynne Flint of Fairbanks, Alaska, are taking their skills to play for Division II Anderson College, while Andrew Bolano of Huntington, W.Va., will be attending Division III University of Washington-St. Louis.
Weighing offers from different schools include Chris McClure (Boise, Idaho), who has narrowed his list down to Anderson and Presbyterian College; Lia DiGrappa (Fairbanks, Alaska), who has offers from Tennessee Tech and Anderson; and Josh Whaley (Midlothian, Va.), who will pick between Longwood (Va.) and Anderson.
The academy competes as a U.S. Club Soccer team in club friendlies, college showcases and domestic and international tournaments. Playing in matches throughout the year, the academy's boys' and girls' programs will play nearly 20 college games this spring.
