Now is Your Chance

Remember at the beginning of the year when I gave my riveting back-to-school speech and encouraged you to tell your friends about Darlington? The main point I tried to make was that now is your window of opportunity to choose the children you want to surround yours! Please read on as I tell you a true story that I hope will impress you as much as it did me.  

Recently, one of our grades had a visitor for the day. When the child left with me to do the admission screening, the two classes met together for a special presentation. After we finished and returned to the classroom, her seat had been taken by a late-arriving male student. This young man immediately got up, gave the visitor his seat, and looked for one at the back of the room. When another student saw that all the seats were taken, HE stood up to give his classmate his seat! Within a matter of seconds, I had witnessed more outstanding character traits than I could list—and not a single adult had said a word to either of these young men.  

This is not an isolated example of the kindness and respect we see daily from our students, merely the most recent. So I’ll say it again: Now is your chance to ensure that this caliber of children continues at the Lower School! You have amazing children who deserve to have amazing peers!
