Middle School Visitors Day will begin at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb.19, with registration at the Upper School library. The program will include an informative slide presentation, student and parent speakers, a campus tour, a presentation by Middle School principal Jim Van Es, and a brunch. Middle School faculty will be there to participate in hands-on activities with visiting students. Bert Noble, eighth grade, and Jonathan Lane, seventh grade, competed at district level for the Georgia Music Educator’s Association All-State Middle School Band in December. Their performances resulted in the recommendation that they move to state level auditions. Clark-Coleman McGehee, sixth grade, competed at the All-State Middle School Orchestra audition, Saturday, Jan. 8, and was also invited to advance to the state final auditions. State level auditions will be held Saturday, Feb. 5, at Mercer University in Macon. Students who pass the final audition will perform with the All-State Middle School Band and Orchestra in Savannah, May 4 - 6.
Plans are underway for the Middle School band to participate in the Great Smokey Mountain Music Festival in Gatlinburg, Tenn., May 11 – 12.
