National Honor Society inducts 31

The Darlington School Chapter of the National Honor Society inducted 31 new members at a ceremony in Morris Chapel on Monday, Feb. 29.
Each year, sophomores, juniors and seniors who have been at Darlington for the equivalent of one semester or more are eligible for induction. Students are eligible if their overall high school average is at least 87.5. Candidates also must have attained at least one major leadership role either through election or appointment, and must have been involved in two or more service activities per year.
Students who meet these requirements must complete a student activities form to provide information regarding academic awards, character, leadership roles and service activities. Then, in accordance with national rules, a committee of five faculty members, chosen annually by the head of school, selects new members of the society.
“National Honor Society membership is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student,” said Craig Schmidt, adviser. “The selecting committee looks for students who reflect the ideals of NHS by demonstrating excellence in scholarship, leadership, service and character. We are proud of our chapter’s newest members.”
New members include seniors Tamara Oluwakoyinsade Brisibe, Shelby Elizabeth Cline, Jade Elin Cox, Sami Loren dePass, Dylan James Paracka, Alexander James Roberts, Kyle Jeffrey Tackeberry, Adrianna Rose Young; juniors Zane William Anderson, Carson Henley Barnes, William Samuel Berry, Cooper Lee Brock, Anna Kate Cagle, Annaliese Price Clevenger, Ethan Mark Delashmit, Olivia Danielle Drake, Elaine Gao, Huy The Hoang, Elizabeth Claire Hudson, Dongwuk David Kim, Ian Michael Kinney, Palesa Malehlohonolo Molapo, Luke Christopher Parker, Gianna Quinn Pieroni, Caroline Emerson Schrum; and sophomores Stacy Chen, David Lawson Hagler, Julia Dare Holmes, Gabrielle Nicole Jones, Callie Anne Maffett, and Samuel James Tackeberry.
