My First Memory of Darlington
By Ella Yang '15 - '15
I came to Darlington in my sophomore year. At first, I was kind of nervous about getting involved into a totally new environment since I was an international student who had never lived in dorm before. But soon I felt how comfortable Dar Community is.
On the opening day of school, my parents sent me to my dorm. It made me feel so welcome when every teacher and student we saw smiled and said, "Hi!" I was also so excited to see the admission officer who interviewed me in my room. She hugged me and told me that she was glad to see me here, and she advised me a lot about the first year, in both academic and living aspect. Right away, I felt that everyone in the community was kind and sincere, and shared a close relationship with others. I was excited to be a part of such a great community.
One thing I do appreciate is that, every time I have had a concern, my Head of House, Mrs. Babb, is always there and willing to help. This was so important to me, the little girl who was trying to adapt the new community. I love the girls and teachers I met in the first year. As the youngest dorm, we actually made many miracles, including the great achievement in RUMPUS. (For those who may not know, RUMPUS is a weekend-long competition between the houses held each January.)
So what I am saying is, I really appreciate that in the Darlington Community, there’s an amazing magic to have many great people around.
