MS softball team earns second-place regional trophy

The Middle School softball team earned a second place distinction at the Rome Middle School Invitational, held on Saturday, Sept. 20 at the YMCA Fields at Grizzard Park. The team entered the double elimination event with a six loss, no win record.
They lost their first game to Rome, 5-4, then, defeated Chattooga 15-3, Rockmart 6-4 and Trion 12-3, earning them a place in the championship game where they were defeated by Cedartown. "We are very proud of this group of girls. They came together as a team and overcome a brutal series of games to post three straight victories over teams that had beaten them in the past two weeks," Mark Sidwell, Middle School softball coach, said. "They are truly an example of the old saying that quitters never win and winners never quit. These girls are certainly all winners."
