"Run! Run! No...now shoot! Yes...that's it...not there... yeah...great shot!" shouts Lower School physical education teacher Doug Moon to a group of young children running through the gym while playing a hybrid basketball game called Moonball, a game Moon invented for his PE classes.

Moon, teacher and coach, has been part of the Darlington community for 11 years. "I feel privileged to teach at Darlington becomes it is such a close knit community," Moon said.

An integral part of the Darlington community, Coach Moon, as he is known around campus, works with students of all ages. He teaches every Lower School student as the physical education instructor. He coaches Middle School cross country in the fall and golf in the spring. He is assistant coach for the varsity girls basketball team and head coach of the junior varsity girls basketball team. In the summer, he directs Camp Darlington, and during the school year he does duty in South Hall, the ninth and tenth grade dormitory.

"Of all my duties around Darlington I enjoy the coaching responsibilities the most," Moon said. "There is great reward in teaching. I have been able to see little kids grow up to be young adults and accomplish many things in all areas of life."
