Moody earns DAR Good Citizenship Award at state level

Elyse Moody, Darlington senior, received the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award for the region of Northwest Georgia, competed at State level, and earned first-place distinction at that level, as well. Moody, who wrote an essay about what patriotism means to her, is the first state winner from Floyd County. She received a check for $450 and a medal and is now in the national competition.
The Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award is a scholarship of $5,000 given to 61 students in the United States with a GPA of at least 3.0 and in the top 40 percent of their class. Formed in 1890, the Daughters of the American Revolution’s goal is to perpetuate the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved American Independence.
