Miniyar named Student of the Month for November

Senior Radha Miniyar has been named Noon Optimist Student of the Month for November.

"Every teacher looks forward to having a student like Radha Miniyar in class," said Christie Atkins, her sophomore Honors Geometry teacher. "As a mathematics educator, I insist that my students show detailed work so I can understand what they are thinking. Radha was a master at organizing her thoughts and communicating with me on paper every detail of her reasoning. Not only was she meticulous in her work, she was accurate as well ... Radha will be an amazing asset at any college or university!"

A day student who has been enrolled at Darlington since fourth grade, Miniyar has taken 16 Honors and AP courses during her high school career and was named an AP Scholar by The College Board. She is a member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica and has earned multipe E.L. Wright Awards for having the highest GPA in a particular course. A Tiger Expert, she is also a member of Spanish Club and previously participated in student publications, basketball, and volleyball. 

Outside of school, Miniyar has completed a tremendous amount of community service with organizations such as the Swami Vivekananda House of Compassion, Makervillage and Rome Action Ministries. She also teaches guitar lessons and has taught piano. During her travels to India, she also interned at Barmade Hospital Latur and helped organize a clothing drive for children in need. 

The daughter of Dr. Raj and Sheetal Miniyar of Rome, Radha will be honored at an Optimist Club luncheon on Nov. 15.
