During the annual regional bridge tournament in Atlanta held during the week prior to Labor Day and on Labor Day, thousands of bridge players from all over the United States and from foreign countries vie for master points and prizes. On Saturday night of the Labor Day weekend, Darlington junior Brian Miller, Rome, Ga., found himself without a partner. At the partnership desk he was paired with a man who had a higher rank than he. Since in bridge tournaments the players must play at the higher level of the partnership, Brian found himself playing against stiffer competition than his experience would dictate. In bridge lingo, Brian held up his side of the table and he and his partner won a trophy for their outstanding performance. Brian received his trophy at Monday's assembly on Sept. 22.
