Middle School team wins second consecutive championship

Darlington's Middle School Lady Tigers basketball team won the Floyd County Athletic Association Championship for the second year in a row, downing Model Middle School 40-30 in the championship game. The Lady Tigers finish the season with a 16-1 record. 

“It has been amazing to watch these girls continue to improve over the course of this season," said coach Tommy Atha. "We had some big shoes to fill from last year's championship team and these girls certainly rose to the occasion!” 

This year’s departing eighth-graders finish their Middle School career with a three-year record of 48 wins and four losses, with three straight championship game appearances and two championships.

“The future of girls' basketball at Darlington looks extremely bright from the Middle School level all they way up!” Atha said.
