Middle School Chorus participates in All-Star Music Festival

The Middle School Chorus earned superior ratings at the All-Star Music Festival, held April 1 and 2 in Orlando, Fla.
“The actual festival takes place at Olympia High School, but we performed at the Hard Rock Café stage,” said Kim Tunnell, music teacher.
The group performed Theron Kirk’s “Tambourica,” Joseph Martin’s “The Journey” and John Carter’s “Cantate Domino.” All were learned after Christmas holidays.
“The kids did really well,” said Tunnell. “The class meets daily during study hall and lunch … This is not a regular class period; however, we accomplish a great deal during those 20 minutes.”
On the trip, the students were also able to visit Busch Gardens, where the Upper School's Steel Drum Band performed, and Universal Studios. This will be the only competition in which the Middle School Chorus will participate this year, but Tunnell said she hopes to add more to next year’s calendar.
The chorus will perform a spring concert April 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Morris Chapel.
