Middle School basketball continues winning streak

They started out strong, 3-0, then lost three, and are now on a streak that they hope will carry them to the tournament on Feb. 12-14. The Middle School basketball team, with Joe Pieroni, head coach, and Kevin Ivester, assistant coach, beat Coosa, Armuchee, and Cedartown to start the season and then lost to Chattooga, Model, and Coosa before beating Armuchee.
Ben Jackson scored 16 points against Coosa, Patrick Pierson had 16 points against Armuchee, and Robert Wilson led the way against Cedartown with 11.
From that point in the season on, the Tigers have been on a roll. They beat Trion in the next game, 55-53, in which Ben Jackson had 19 points and Tyson Betts had 12. In the win against Pepperell, Jackson had 16 points, Betts 15, and Patrick Collier.
In beating Armuchee for the second time this season, Jackson scored 20 points, including five three-pointers. T.J. Shea added nine points. The Tigers went on to beat the top team in the league, Chattooga. Previously undefeated, Chattooga fell to the mighty Tigers, 36-34. Betts scored 20 points, including six three-pointers.
