Lynch named August Student of the Month

Outstanding academic achievement has won senior Laura Lynch the honor of being named Noon Optimist Student of the Month for August.
Lynch has a GPA of 100.09 with 10 Honors and six AP credits. While at Darlington, she has earned an E.L. Wright Award in AP Spanish, a Congressional Achievement Award, a UGA Certificate of Merit, the Dartmouth College Book Award and the University of Rochester Humanities Award. Also named a Presbyterian College Junior Fellow, she is a member of National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society.
Lynch spent her sophomore year studying at the Generalitat de Catalunya Institut d’ensenyament secundari Alella in Barcelona, Spain, where all courses are taught in Spanish. She received credit for 12 courses.
An accomplished student-athlete, Lynch is a member of the varsity cross country, track and field, and crew teams. She also participates in the fine arts as a member of the Ladies’ Chorale and Concert Choir and a section leader in the band. She is treasurer of the House Senate, president of French Club, cultural chairperson of Spanish Club, and a member of the Student Support Team, Darlingtonian staff, and IMPACT Club. Outside of Darlington, Lynch volunteers with the Coosa River Basin Initiative and serves as an American Field Service liaison.
The daughter of Joan and Marty Lynch of Rome, Lynch was honored at an Optimist Club luncheon on Sept. 24.
