Lower School students claim chorus honors

Darlington School is pleased to announce that 10 students from the Lower School were selected to participate in the Seventh District Honors Chorus held in Rome during November.
These students were Myles Englis of Rome, Ga.; Lindsay Evans of Silver Creek, Ga.; Anna Forrister of Rockmart, Ga.; Anne-Elizabeth Gilbert of Rome, Ga.; Hashil Patel of Rome, Ga.; Katie Rohani of Cartersville, Ga.; Maggie Seckman of Rome, Ga.; Kelsey Williams of Rome, Ga.; Kathryn Wittmeier of Rome, Ga.; and Mary Morgan Yancey of Rome, Ga.
Additionally, four students were chosen to participate in the Elementary Honors Chorus held in Morrow, Ga. These students were Katie Brewster of Rome, Ga.; Tanna Key of Calhoun, Ga.; Sean Healy of Cartersville, Ga.; and John Wilhoite of Cartersville, Ga.
All students were selected based on the following criteria: pitch accuracy, intonation, singing range, tonal memory and interest in choral singing.
“These annual choral events bring together students from schools in the Seventh Congressional District and from across the state,” said Diane Lumpkin, assistant principal and music instructor. “Music is important in the lives of children and I am please that at Darlington Lower School, emphasis is placed on choral singing.”
