Lower School parents track children’s progress on the Web

Pre-kindergarten through third grade parents join fourth and fifth grade parents and Middle School and Upper School parents in finding up-to-date information about their children’s progress and school activities on the School Web site. “To my knowledge, this advanced use of technology is not used by any other lower school in the country,” Kandi Riddle, Lower School technology coordinator, said.

Parents are able to access their children’s information and grade page through a confidential personal Web code assigned to each family. Pre-kindergarten through third grade students will not have grades posted; however, parents will be able to see teacher objectives, absences and tardiness, uniform violations, enrichment objectives, special announcements, as well as classroom photos and teacher comments. Any day that teachers enter new information, parents automatically receive an e-mail from the student’s homeroom teacher notifying them at the end of that day.

In addition to student information, parents can use the Web for a variety of other things, including daily and yearly calendars, current news, and photographs, handbooks, library resources, and faculty/staff contact information.
