It is finally beginning to add up in the Lower School. Students plus faculty are equally enjoying their work in a newly selected math series called EVERYDAY MATHEMATICS that was implemented this year in the first, second, and third grades. Beginning in the fall of 2001 the fourth and fifth grades will also use it. Darlington is pleased to announce that all first, second, and third grade teachers as well as the math teachers for fourth and fifth grade will be attending an EVERYDAY MATH workshop this summer as part of their continual strive for excellence.

In addition, consultants from EVERYDAY MATHEMATICS will be coming to our own campus to work one-on-one with the teachers. “It has been a fun and challenging program for the children as well as for the teachers,” says Charla Brewster, third grade math teacher, “From the comments from other faculty members, the program has met its expectations.”
