Lower School acquires SmartBoards donated by Tiger PRIDE

Thanks to Tiger PRIDE (Parents Rallying in the Interest of Darlington Education), the Lower School has purchased four LCD projectors and two Smartboards. The projectors can project anything from the computer or television onto a 72” screen. This enables the entire class to view one monitor at the same time and is a tremendous visual aid to the teachers.
The Smartboards were placed in Katie Clotfelter’s art room and Patricia Ayer’s kindergarten room. A projector displays images on a 72” white board that is called a SmartBoard. The board actually becomes a touch sensitive monitor.
The teacher’s finger becomes the mouse or she can use a stylus or an actual dry erase marker. An entire class can write or draw something that the teacher may then print. The Smartboards will be used to make computer games come to life, as well as for writing practice and art lessons. Darlington’s Lower School is the only school in Rome and Floyd County using this technology at this time.
