Long-time staff member receives national award

Gloria Eberhart, events coordinator for Darlington, has been selected as one of the four winners nationally of the CASE/NAIS annual Independent School Awards, which honor three individuals and one corporation for extraordinary commitment to primary and secondary independent education.
Gloria is this year’s winner of the Support Staff Distinguished Service Award, given for exceptional commitment to a school by a member of the support staff. The award will be presented at the 34th Annual CASE/NAIS Independent Schools Conference in Washington, DC on Jan. 18.
John Lippincott, interim president of CASE, applauded each of the winners for their dedication to and involvement with independent schools.
“It is an honor to recognize these individuals and the Lilly Endowment for their contributions to independent education,” said Lippincott. “I believe their dedication and commitment speak volumes about the important role independent schools play in ensuring that a range of diverse educational opportunities are available to students. The work of the three school professionals we are saluting and of the Lilly Endowment underscores the need for all of us to do our part to help independent schools continue to provide the educational excellence that is their hallmark.”
CASE, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, is the largest international association of education institutions, serving more than 3,200 universities, colleges, schools, and related organizations in 46 countries. NAIS, the National Association of Independent Schools, represents over 1,100 independent schools in the United States and abroad.
“From my personal perspective, there could be no one in the country more worthy of this award. Gloria is our ‘queen of Development,’” Mollie Avery, vice president for development, said.
