Darlington participated in the region single A literary competition Friday, March 12, tying for second place with Trion behind Calhoun. Participants included Holly Hoag, Tara Nixon, and Leslie Leddy (girls trio); Allen Babcock, Luke Farmer, Drew Doss, and Adam Richardson (boys quartet); Tara Nixon (girls solo); Luke Farmer (boys solo); Morgan McCrary (girls dramatic interpretation); Drew Doss (boys dramatic interpretation); Cat Lawler (girls spelling); Nick Draudt (boys spelling); Raul Gonzalez (boys essay); Allison Black (girls extemporaneous speaking); and Tripp Alexander (boys extemporaneous speaking).
First place winners at the regional competition were the boys quartet, girls solo, and boys spelling. At the state literary competition, held in Warner-Robbins, the three took first place again, allowing Darlington to place third in the state, despite qualifying for only three of 14 events.
