Large group from Floyd County advances through state sectionals

At the Class A event, hosted by Landmark Christian, the Darlington Tigers and Lady Tigers had more than 20 participants qualify for the final round of the state event — including some who qualified in multiple events.
Advancing to the next round for the Darlington girls were: Marissa McKoy (who qualified in the high jump), Paige Banks (long jump, 400), Darlene Chikezie (triple jump), Terar Stewart (shot put, discus), E.J. Newbern (pole vault), Ansley McDurmon (3200, 1600), Lauren Hooper (3200), Lindsay Evans (1600), Kinslee Clevenger (800), Anna Cantrell (800) and Emily Swafford (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles).
The Darlington girls 4X400 and 4X100 relay teams also advanced. Team members on 4X100 are Katie Hurley, Chikezie, McKoy, and Banks; and team members on the 4X400 are: Chikezie, Hurley, McKoy and Banks.
Advancing for the Darlington boys were: Chase Tolbert (discus), Cameron Gibson (long jump, 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles), Nigel Matthews (long jump), Alex Cox (pole vault, 800), Jesse Baker (1600, 3200), Cam Collins (1600, 800), Kendrick Rhea (300 hurdles) and the 4X400 team comprised of Baker, Collins, Rhea and Cox.
