Lady Tigers win Class A state title

Considered by some to be underdogs, the Lady Tigers upset Athens Christian and First Presbyterian Day School to claim the Class A state cross country title.
The Lady Tigers claimed the victory by utilizing the team-scoring aspect of the sport. While no Darlington runner placed in the Top 10 overall, the Lady Tigers runners ran in a tight pack and finished high enough in the standings to edge out First Presbyterian in points. Scoring for the Lady Tigers were Ansley McDurmon (who was 12th with a time of 20:37), Lindsay Evans (16th, 20:52), Bethany Cagle (26th, 21:10), Joy Diaz (27, 21:11), Anna Shea (28th, 21:16) and Margaret Hjort (49th, 21:58).
