Lacrosse team is one of the ‘most potent lineups in the state’

Their season may have just begun, but the Darlington lacrosse team has already gained praise from Erik Green, Rome News-Tribune sports writer. According to Green in an article on Feb. 18, “They’re not the 2004 New York Yankees, but the Darlington lacrosse team has one of the most potent lineups in the state.”
The Tigers earned the superlatives as the result of a clinic they put on recently against visiting Harrison, in which they beat the Hoyas 14-5 in the season opener. Green notes that it was a huge day for seniors Richard Denny and Lawton Wilson, who had four goals each, and junior Braxton Allen, who had three goals.
Will Raybon, Hunter Edwards, and Justin Izmirlian each had goals for the Tigers, who were without the services of starting goalkeeper Joey Franks. “We’ve got 10 seniors back and most of our starters,” Edwards said. “So we have high expectations this year.”
According to Green, if the rest of the season goes anything like that Tuesday’s game, the Tigers should be able to live up to those expectations.
