Lacrosse program gains momentum

Darlington School started its lacrosse program in 1990. The team’s first game was against Montgomery Bell Academy in the spring of 1991. Two years later, the Tigers went 10-3 in their third season. This helped to spark the Georgian interest in the sport of lacrosse, which has now spread to almost every school in the state.

As two new Darlington lacrosse players, we were able to meet many new people during Darlington Lacrosse Camp. Lacrosse has also gotten us better acquainted with many of the team players and has helped us establish better relationships with them.

Our team is considerably larger than last year. In the previous season, there were around 25 to 30 players, but now there are around 40, with the majority being rookies. This is good for our program because there are large number of fresh, new kids who are the future of our team.

At the very start of the lacrosse season, we lost our coach and had to make a transition to the high school varsity coach, Coach Hight. Our team struggled at first to be organized and to act as a team, but after a while we became more in control and learned to work together. This has ultimately made our team stronger.
