Krueger named Student of the Year

Senior Anna Krueger was named All-Around Student of the Year by the Noon Optimist Club Jan. 29, and senior Brett Henson was named semi-finalist for Academic Student of the Year.
“We’re very proud of the students who have been selected,” said Holly Dean and Mike Crego in a letter to Darlington. “There were many nominees in each category, and our judges struggled to make the selections.”
A resident of Trion, Ga., Krueger is secretary of the Honor Council, vice president of House Senate and a member of the varsity lacrosse team and varsity cheerleading squad. In addition to those roles, she has served as secretary of the Spanish Club, treasurer of the Science Club and a member of the Ladies Chorale, Prom Committee and video yearbook staff. She was also named a UCA All-Star Cheerleader. Krueger’s volunteer work includes Relay for Life, Leadership Rome, Atlanta Emmaeus House and National Kids' Day.
A senior from Elko, Nev., Henson is actively involved in student government as president of the House Senate and Discipline Committee. He is a letterman in cross country and is captain of Scholar Bowl and the Math Team. A prefect in Summerbell House, Henson has served as a governor’s page in North Carolina and a coaching assistant at summer tennis camp. He also works as a lab assistant for the science department and is a columnist for The Darlingtonian student newspaper.
“I was extremely proud of Anna and Brett; they were well deserving of these honors," said Sally Rudert ('66T), assistant director of Upper School. "With their outstanding presentations, they were excellent ambassadors for Darlington. They exemplify all that we hold true at Darlington School.”
