Junior participates in leadership forum

Grant Muller, junior, will attend the prestigious National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine (NYLF/MED), taking place in Atlanta, Ga., July 6-15, 2003. During this career development program, Muller will join more than 350 other high school students from around the country who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and an interest in medicine.
Throughout the 10-day forum, Muller will be shown a variety of concepts in public health, medical ethics, research and general practice, including site visits to medical facilities and clinics. He will join other students in a simulation using problem-based learning, an educational method in which students will be presented a fictional patient’s case history and must diagnose and develop a treatment plan for the patient.
“The National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine offers students like Grant Muller a chance to complement their classroom experience,” Donna Snyder, NYLF executive director, said. “It’s never too early in a young person’s life to start exploring which career to pursue.”
In addition to site visits to cutting-edge medical schools and clinical facilities, Muller will hear from and interact with leaders within the medical field. Students have up-close personal contact with physicians, surgeons, researchers, scientists, and medical educators as they go behind the scenes to view these professionals at work.
