Jabberwokk awarded for excellence

Darlington's yearbook, the Jabberwokk, has been recognized for excellence and featured in the 2009 Gotcha Covered Look Book. Published annually by yearbook leader Jostens, the Look Book features yearbook spreads and covers from across the country and serves as a reference guide for yearbook advisers and staffs seeking creative design and coverage ideas, trends and inspiration.
The 2008-09 Jabberwokk, themed "Feels Like Home," was created by students under the direction of yearbook adviser Beth Wilson. It was one of only 435 yearbooks selected from thousands submitted to a panel of judges that included nationally recognized scholastic journalism professionals and award-winning yearbook advisers.
"Yearbook staffers capture once-in-a-lifetime stories that will be saved for decades," said Gary Lundgren, Jostens senior program manager/education. "The yearbooks chosen for Jostens' 2009 Gotcha Covered Look Book showcase advances in design, photography and journalistic excellence that reflect the sophistication and significance of today's yearbook programs."
Wilson and her yearbook staff received a copy of the Look Book and a certificate from Jostens in recognition of their outstanding achievement. The 2008-09 Jabberwokk was also awarded a silver medal by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and a first class designation by the National Scholastic Publishing Association.
