It's Great to Be Back!
By Steve Bartholomew - FF/S
It’s great to be back! The campus looks wonderful and our students have not missed a beat. They are all so smart and eager to learn. I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome our 52 new families as well as our returning ones to a new school year. Thank you, everyone, for your prayers, thoughts, well wishes, cards and notes of cheer. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed receiving and reading your get-well wishes.
We have two major social events coming up in October. The first event is the Fall for the Arts Festival on Friday, Oct. 7 from noon to 4 p.m. Our students will dismiss right after lunch at 12:30 p.m. at which time parents are encouraged to take them over to the Middle School Courtyard to enjoy the afternoon festivities. This year's program is jam packed with great entertainment, including some groups from the Lower School, so I hope all of our families will support it. Extended Day will be available from 12:30 until 5:45 p.m. at the Lower School.
On Saturday morning, Oct. 8, the Lower, Middle and Upper School Tiger PRIDE parent groups are co-sponsoring the Run with PRIDE 5K and Fun Run. This is Tiger PRIDE's major fundraiser for the year. I encourage everyone’s participation, whether you are a runner, a walker or simply an onlooker. This is fun for the entire family! Click here for more details.
Interim grades for K-4 will be sent home on Wednesday, Oct. 12. Our mandatory fall conferences for PK-4 takes place on Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Extended Day will be available from 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. for working parents. Please sign up in advance with Alice Johnson or Jackie Kearton. Teachers will have signup sheets available the week of Sept. 26. Please sign up outside your child's classroom. Conferences run approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
Just a reminder to parents that students should be in their classrooms by 7:55 a.m. Teachers start the day in the Primary area at 8 a.m. with Circle Time. It creates unrest for the students and classroom when students are late. This applies to students in grades 3 and 4 as well. I thank you for supporting our school’s operating hours.
The fourth-grade students and teachers are head over heels with their iPads. On Sept. 19, the fourth-graders will showcase their slideshows at the Insect Expo. Everyone is welcome to attend and see what our students have learned. The event is scheduled for 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the gym. Please check the School Calendar frequently (preferably daily) as everything you need to know is posted here for your convenience and information.
My weekly blogs will have pertinent information to keep our families involved and updated.
