It Takes a Village

Many thanks to all of our parents, families, teachers and students who made last weekend a huge success. The Fall for the Arts Festival was the best ever! Everyone enjoyed the student performances and all of the activities that were available for the children.  

The Tiger PRIDE Leadership Team, headed by Kathleen Hughes and her sister Stephanie Walker, deserve a lot of credit for the 5K and Fun Run that was held on Saturday. The Lower School had over 80% participation and led the way for this event. The financial results will be reported at the beginning of November. Special thanks to all of our parent volunteers for their efforts and support.

On Friday, our third- and fourth-grade cross country team went to Menlo to compete in the annual Menlo Cross-Country Run. Our fourth-grade boys came back with a first place trophy while our third-grade teams each placed third. All of the students made a fine showing and made us very proud. Congratulations to all of the participants for a job well done!

Halloween will be celebrated at the Lower School on Monday, Oct. 31. The teachers will be organizing classroom celebrations in the afternoon prior to the PK-grade 4 Halloween Parade that will take place in the gym at 2:15 p.m. Room mothers will be contacted to help the classroom teachers organize the parties. Following the parade, the students will perform various Halloween songs for our guests. Parents are cordially invited to attend and don’t forget to bring your cameras!

Monday, Oct. 31, will be a Tiger Day so students can either wear their costumes to school or bring them to change into before the parade.

There was a great turn-out for the parent/teacher conferences. If parents have not had the opportunity to meet, please contact your child’s classroom teacher and do so this week.

I have enjoyed meeting with PK-grade 4 parents during the past few weeks. Approximately 30 parents participated in the talks. Thank you to all who joined us.

Fall Break will take place on Thursday, Oct. 20 through Friday, Oct. 21. (Wednesday, Oct. 19 is a full day of school.) We wish our families a restful and enjoyable break with their children and look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday, Oct. 24.

Our annual author visit will take place on Friday, Oct. 28. Elise Broach is this year’s featured author and will be talking with all of our students. We are excited about her visit to the Lower School.
