The following announcement comes from the Student Life Office. Please call 706-236-0435 with any questions.

Darlington’s Class of 2007 has seen its share of challenges during its tenure at the Upper School. Much has been asked of these students, and much will be expected next year as they become leaders of the student body. With this in mind, the Upper School faculty has given the class an opportunity to travel off campus for a chaperoned overnight retreat.

Buses will depart the Huffman Center parking lot for Camp Skyline Thursday, Feb. 2 at 5:30 p.m. Thursday night will feature good food, a band and a huge bonfire. On Friday morning, students will participate in a low and high ropes course focusing on class unity, trust and leadership. The ropes course experts at Camp Skyline will join forces with several B.O.L.D. counselors from Berry College to offer this program.

The junior class was informed of this retreat Monday during a special assembly. Each student was handed a packet containing waiver forms and a list of what to bring. The waiver forms need to be signed and submitted to the Student Life Office by Wednesday at noon.

All juniors will be expected to participate in the retreat unless exempted for special circumstances. The high ropes course is “choice-challenge,” meaning that each student chooses his or her level of participation.

The Class of 2007 will return Friday, Feb. 3 at 5 p.m. Faculty chaperones include Mr. Rhodes, Mr. Griffeth, Mr. Jones, Mr. Bell, Mr. Foote, Mr. Cox, Ms. Shaub, Mrs. Pate, Mrs. Mann and Mrs. Braden.
