Immersion days provide French dip

On Nov. 7, French faculty and students enjoyed “A Taste of France” at break in the Dodd Banquet Room. All French students and French club members brought something French to eat.
On Nov. 9, the French department celebrated French Immersion Day. French students cooked or baked something French for a grade. They played games like “Pictionary” in French, “Mille Bornes,” a French card game, and French Bingo. They did a craft as well, painting a white tile with a French theme. And, they watched a movie, Les Hommes en Noir (Men in Black) in French.
Jenifer McCoy, Mary Catherine’s and Cassidy’s mother, came from their lake house in LaGrange, Ga., to cook crêpes with a chicken broccoli filling. Mr. and Mrs. Froshour, Bradley Large’s grandparents from Macon, Ga., cooked Quiche Lorraine and pâté en croûte. Mrs. Froshour is French. Everyone enjoyed deserts, cheeses, cheese fondue, and other delicacies.
Students also designed posters as part of their cultural projects, including Parisian monuments by French I, a francophone country by French II and II Honors, a French region by French III and III Honors, a French company by French IV Honors, and a famous French person by the French AP class. The posters were used to decorate the language department hall and the library.
