Hypnotist to bring live comedy show to Upper School audience

In partnership with the Student Life Office, Darlington’s Upper School Tiger PRIDE parent association will present a live comedy show featuring Master Hypnotist Erick Känd on Friday, April 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Van Es Arena. The event is free and open to all Upper School students. Parents are also welcome to attend.

“Thanks to the support of Tiger PRIDE, the Student Life Office has been fortunate to be able to present a variety of national talent and well-regarded speakers,” said Marcus Holmes, Dean of Residential Life and event liaison. “These types of events help enhance and strengthen the student life experience at Darlington.”

Throughout the evening, students will be invited to take the stage and become an integral part of the family-friendly show. While sure to be a fun and funny night, the purpose of Känd's program is two-fold. In addition to being entertained, attendees will also learn more about their own inherent abilities to employ visualization techniques that increase self-esteem, sharpen study skills, and achieve personal goals.

“Hypnotizing individuals is a process that begins with the volunteer's approval. Nobody can be hypnotized against their will,” said Känd. “The state of hypnosis releases our hidden talents and abilities. After the show is over, people often say they wish they had volunteered to come up on stage. They see how much fun it is and realize that I’m not going to ask them to cluck like a chicken or anything like that.”

Känd has worked with different schools all over the United States to bring engaging entertainment suitable for all audiences. Before relocating to Florida, he owned and operated the San Diego Hypnosis Center. The hypnotist has helped clients with a broad base of issues such as phobia elimination, relationship issues and weight loss.
