Outstanding academic achievement has won senior Stephanie Huskins the honor of being named Noon Optimist Student of the Month for January.

Huskins currently ranks 29th in the class of 121. During her high school career, she has taken 12 AP and Honors courses.

"Stephanie is one of the nicest young ladies I have ever encountered in the classroom or on the athletic field," said math teacher Joe Pieroni. "She goes about everything in her life giving her best effort every day. She leads by example and would not expect anyone to do something she isn't willing to do herself. There have not been many students that come to a school their junior year and make the impact that Stephanie has on her class, school and classmates."

Huskins is a member of the Spanish Honor Society, plays saxophone in the Instrumental Music Conservatory and other instrumental ensembles, and also plays lacrosse and volleyball. The daughter of Cory and Scott Huskins of Silver Creek, Ga., she was honored at an Optimist Club luncheon on Jan. 24.
