How I Got to Darlington and Why

I remember the day very vividly. I was in eighth grade and I was searching the internet when I noticed an article titled "Boarding schools prepare students for the future." I had always liked the show "Zoey 101" and thought boarding school might be fun. Therefore, I clicked on the article.

The article read that students who attend boarding schools are more prepared for college and life, compared to those that do not. Right then and there, I decided I needed to go to boarding school. It took me a while to convince my parents, but they finally took me to visit a couple of boarding schools.

My parents were hoping I would see some schools and change my mind. That is the opposite of what happened when I came to see Darlington School. I was in complete awe of the campus and the people who walked its grounds. My tour guide was Adrianna Young (‘16) and I followed her to see her classes. I enjoyed the classes and genuinely liked the teachers that I met. When Adrianna took me to see the library, I was even more impressed. All I could think was, “I cannot wait to read theses books” and “I want to study here, too!”

I felt as if Darlington was different from most schools in a positive way. I also wanted to spend my high school years at such an amazing community. My decision to come to Darlington was the best one I’ve ever made.
