Holst joins admission staff

Nathan Holst has joined the Darlington Community as assistant director of boarding admission.
"I look forward to sharing my own experiences in boarding school with prospective families, helping them understand the benefits of private education," he said.
Holst holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Rhode Island College and has six years of experience in admissions. Most recently, he served as assistant admissions director at Darrow School in New Lebanon, N.Y. There, he was also a student advisor, a coach and a member of the residential life faculty.
"My philosophy for education is that teaching can happen anywhere; it doesn't have to be in a structured classroom environment," he said.
Holst and his cat, Mollie, moved to Rome last month, which was perfect timing for him to jump right into one of the busiest times of year for admissions. He and his colleagues have stayed very busy with campus tours and recruitment planning for the coming year. For the coming year, his territory will include Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Washington (D.C.), Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, Eastern Asia and South America.
In his spare time, Holst is an avid rock climber and biker. He also enjoys working out, team sports and photography.
"I'm excited to be at Darlington and I can't wait to meet and get to know the returning, new and prospective students this year!" he said.
