Holcombe named October Student of the Month
By Tannika King - Faculty
Senior Ava Belle Holcombe has been named Noon Optimist Student of the Month for October.
"Ava Belle is not just a motivated student who works diligently and with curiosity," said Upper School learning specialist and English teacher Jennifer Luitwieler, her advisor. "She is not only a dedicated team member who supports the whole. She is not simply a head prefect in Regester House who cares and empathizes. Ava Belle is genuine, kind, thoughtful, bright, and joyful. I have worked with Ava Belle since she was in eighth grade, and I have watched her grow as a student, a friend, and a person. She is soaring already and will only reach new heights."
A day student who has been enrolled at Darlington since middle school, Holcombe has taken 13 Honors and AP classes and serves as a head day prefect. A three-sport athlete, she plays softball, soccer and runs track. Outside of school, she plays travel soccer with the YMCA Arsenal Rome Soccer Club and spends time volunteering with Extra Special People Inc. Her Senior Ventures project involves serving children with learning differences.
The daughter of Dr. Paul and Emily Holcombe of Rome, Ava Belle will be honored at an Optimist Club luncheon on Oct. 17.
