Hicks receives Lifetime Award

The CiRCE Institute awarded President David Hicks with the CiRCE Award for Lifetime Contribution to Education. “The award recognizes David’s achievement in laying down a clear set of principles and theory on what education ought to be in his book, Norms and Nobility, and for striving for more than 20 years to implement that vision in a number of settings,” Andrew Kern, from the CiRCE Institute, said.
Hicks will receive the award at the institute’s first conference on the Purpose, Essence, and Practice of Education, in Charlotte, N.C., August 9, 2002. He will also be a plenary speaker during the conference. The CiRCE Institute is committed to the idea that education is the cultivation of wisdom and virtue, and that it is accomplished by nourishing the soul on truth, goodness, and beauty.
