During the annual Faculty Appreciation Dinner, Thursday, May 4, Dan and Adeline Hanks presented bronze plaques to Darlington’s language department and to the business office.
The language department plaque recognizes eight influential language teachers from the ’20s to the ’80s: S. Horton Askew, Latin, 1920-1929; William J. Judd, Spanish, 1924-1942; Roland B. Parker, French, 1925-1940; Robert H. Cobb, German and Latin, 1925-1966; Paul J. King, 1944-1957; Philip M. Ham, French, 1947-1973; Worth S. Moser, Spanish, 1949-1985; and Lillian D. Jackson, Latin, 1959-1966.
The gift to the business office is in memory of Charles D. Scott, Darlington’s business manager from 1948-1964, who for nearly 40 years served youth as a “coach, businessman, confidant, [and] friend,” the plaque reads.
