Habitat for Humanity auction on March 31

Dear Darlington Community,
As you know, this year’s student body – led by the leaders of the Class of 2007 – has accepted the challenge of raising $50,000 to build a Habitat for Humanity House in South Rome. Our classmates have sponsored a variety of fundraisers throughout the year. Most recently, we held an auction for Lower School parents, which was quite a success. Our next fundraising event – an auction for all parents, alumni and friends of Darlington – will take place March 31 at 7 p.m. at the Huffman Center. We hope this combination of live and blind auctions will provide the necessary funds to complete the fund-raising process.
The Habitat for Humanity project exceeds the expectations of high school students by giving back in a charitable way to the community that has supported Darlington for the past 102 years. Thus far, we have raised nearly half of our monetary goal through student fundraisers, cash donations from the Rome community, and gifts in kind.
We will be accepting donations for auction items from the Darlington community through March 18. Examples of items can include beach/lake condo weekends, tickets to athletic events, themed packages, art, contributions from businesses, talents, etc. If you are interested in participating, please contact Ben Pate at BPate@darlingtonschool.org or Katherine Eid at KEid@Darlingtonschool.org with specific information about your donation, when and where it can be used, approximate value, etc., as well as your contact information.
The senior class aims to complete all fundraising and build the Habitat House, with the assistance of community contractors, by May. In order to satisfy this goal, we need your support. If you cannot attend the auction or do not have items to donate, monetary gifts are appreciated. Parties interested in making a donation to this student-led effort, should send cash or check made payable to Darlington School to the Assistant Headmaster's Office, Darlington School, 1014 Cave Spring Rd., Rome, GA 30161. Please enclose a note specifying that this is a donation to the Habitat for Humanity project. Every little bit helps!
