Growing Our Chain of Kindness

First, I want to thank those of you who are already actively participating in building our Chain of Kindness. Secondly, I want to get the rest of you fired up as we approach the Rachel's Challenge rally on Nov. 11 at the Georgia Dome. We need to grow our chain!
Starting next Friday, Oct. 7, the focus of Friday advisor meetings will be "kudos." Please take this time to remember the people during the week that have been kind to you, or the people you may have seen doing something kind or thoughtful for someone else. Then, write their name on the back of a link and add it to your advisor's chain. These don't have to be "big" acts of kindness, but more the day-to-day things that make our community a better place to live. It can be simple things like holding the door for someone or congratulating a friend on a job well done.
While no place is perfect, our community is a pretty "nice" place already. Consequently, I think we sometimes take for granted the small acts of kindness that happen around us every day. But, it's these small courtesies that have a huge impact on our daily lives.
Also, think about the people who take care of us every day, like the wonderful Dining Services staff and all our housekeepers. For resident students, how about the friendly people in the Business Office who take care of your allowance? How about thanking a teacher or staff person who has helped you out ... and teachers, remember to give commendations to your students who are kind and helpful to you and other students.
If you need more links for your classroom, office, dorm room or residence hall, I have pre-cut ones in my office. You are welcome to stop by anytime. Thanks, in advance, for your support of Rachel's Challenge and Kudos Friday!
