Golf Competition Increases

Veteran Darlington Golf Coach Raymond Murray is preparing for a challenging spring competition between the Darlington team and its rivalries on the course and also more competition within the Tiger pack, itself. Eighteen players have signed up and will be vying for the top six spots for each match, making them more difficult to attain.
“The team is anxious to get out on the links,” Murray said. With strong senior leadership provided by Tilman Raybon and Sean Watford, the team should develop into a noble opponent. Juniors Andy Gates and Tom Arnold also provide experience and strong play to add influence on the green.
Juniors Rachel Anderson, Jordan Hammond, Frank Hasbauer, and Brince Manning are new to the team this year. “Sophomore Pat Patton should be prepared for a strong year after gaining valuable experience last year,” Murray added. “Ten freshmen are going to push some of our upperclassmen for starting roles.” Many of them played on a very successful Darlington Middle School team in 2000 including Ben Burch, Drew Davis, David Hoyt, Mary Beth Monk, Jenny Morris, Parrish Owens, Charlie Seiz, Jason Smith, Carter Vick, and Sanders Wallis.
